I'm looking at buying a dell laptop but i'm not sure what all of the components mean in terms of performance and what will be the best one for me. The inspion 1501 with the duo processor looks pretty good. with this chip and the graphics card, what sort of things can i do that i wouldn't be able to on the cheapest dell laptop? I've got a budget of about £450 and i get a 7% discount with work. I use the web, use itunes alot and do a bit of photoshop and dvd editing/encoding. I don't want a big laptop, would rather have a 14" screen but 15.4 would be OK.
Any advice would be great |

Hi Klofan, welcome to the forum.
For Photoshop work, dvd editing/encoding (and the soon to be released MS Vista) you are going to need at least 1GB RAM and ideally a dual core processor. So this rules out the Inspiron 1300. If I were you I would go for the N11153 Inspiron 1501, this gives you a dual core cpu, 1gb memory, 80gb hard drive and a better graphics solution than the 1300 for just a little over your budget. This is of course my personal opinion, I am sure there are others.
