Default I want to buy the Dell XPS M1530

Hey dm X dimension. Im new here, nice forum I have to say. well done.

Anyways back to the point.

I'm planning to buy a laptop for my self a Dell XPS m1530. I never had a laptop before, however I use a desktop pc running all games such as COD4, CSS etc. Im planning to give my pc to my little brother, I thought of getting a laptop, as im an A level student. I prefer working in different places. So I looked hard for a laptop which can be a desktop replacement, and I found the DELL XPS m1530.

I want to buy the m1530 with these specs:
dual 2 core 2.4 ghz 3mb cache
3-4gb ram
160 gb hdd
8600 Gt graphics card
screen resolution of the max 1900 x 1200 (as i do alot of photo shop editing)

Whats the cheapest do u guys think i can get that for?
I need as much help as possible, as I am a student and really tight on the budget. which is about 750 - 800 quidish.

All the 1530's on offer seem to have a resolution of 1280x800 and I can't see any options to change this.

A quick look via dmx (click on the M1530 link, N05X5305 at £629 and then add a 2.4Ghz CPU and add the 3Gb ram option, go to checkout and add the Dmx 10% discount code (TJT8?WHNCW09DJ) and you get a decent price of £656 instead of the normal £819.

Seems pretty good to me.

Order before 14th May to get free shipping (£60), along with £90 discount and then the 10% discount voucher listed above.

Another option maybe:

Vostro™ 1700 NB(N0517014)
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

It has a 17" screen (this is a BIG laptop) with the resolution you wanted - select this option, same 2.4Ghz cpu, 3GB ram, 8600 graphics etc.

Price is £692 including vat and delivery.

Although aimed at small business, anyone can buy these.

details:

BASE Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

my mistake, when I looked again at the m1530 there are 3 screen options now... when I looked yesterday all options were the same (must be a temporary glitch on Dell's site)

No this will not have any effect on your warranty. Dell actually provide clear instructions on upgrading the memory in the user manual.

hi all,

i was thinking about buying a simular spec!
is now the best time to buy? because with all the discounts it seems pretty good! but i'd hate to wait a day and miss a good deal, or for the price 2 drop after the promo!

i think im gonna get the N05X5305 at £629 and then add a 2.4Ghz CPU and upgrade the HD to the 320 for £20, upgrade the screen to 1440 x 900 £20, then upgrade the memory at a later date from an external retailer, then sell the old memory on ebay!!
