Default E6400 screen

Hi,

I have just bought an E6400 with the base spec LCD screen and the base spec graphics card. The screen is really not working out well and I wondered if anyone there had bought the higher spec screen and graphics card and could let me know if it seems okay? The problem with my screen is hard to explain. When the contrast is set too high the whites are blindingly bright, and when the contrast is set too low it is really too hard to read the text. There doesn't seem to be a reasonable middle ground. My housemates also find the screen problematic in the same way. When I compare the screen with the LCD of the same resolution on my 630m the new one really seems very bad. I have contacted Dell tech suppport and they said that the problem is the low spec graphics card, and that nothing can be done other than return the computer and buy a better one.

I wondered if anyone there might have had a chance to compare the different screens and be able to comment?

Thanks,

JSP
