Like Lynx I have been trying to determine the difference between the Inspiron 17 and the 17R, so thanks for clarifying things.
On the dell website there is 100% positive feedback in reviews of the Inspiron 17R (but there's only one review!) whereas, a similarly priced studio model has around 1500 reviews, but many of them make mention of the fact that the machine runs very hot. So am I right to be wary of the Studio model and purchase the Inspiron 17R, which doesn't appear to be so tried and tested? Views/opinions would be most welcome. Thanks |

I think I would go for the Inspiron 17r, just because it is a newer model. Price for price with the Studio 17 it also appears to offer slightly better specs, although the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics card of the 17r appears to be slightly weaker than the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 of the Studio 17.
Notebookcheck: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Notebookcheck: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Just my opinion of course. Maybe someone who already has bought a 17r can offer theirs? |
