Lightbulb Dell UK Vostro 1510 Notebook

Hi,
There is a new Vostro notebook that was rolled out yesterday or today. It is still not on the Dell UK website but I recieved a leaflet through the post.
The base starts at £499 and with it you get:
- Intel core 2 duo processor T5670 (1.8ghz)
- Windows Vista Business
- 1gb Ram
- 160 GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
- MS Office Small Business Edition
- 15.4" widescreen
- Intergrated Graphics

It has a fingerprint scanner and multimedia buttons similar to the 1400

From,

Is it just me or is that spec a bit skewed? 1GB RAM on a dual core machine running Vista?! I haven't run Vista on a machine with less than 2GB RAM myself - it's about the starting point for that bloated monstrosity really. You get the feeling that a better balance would be 4GB RAM, ditch MS Office and pre-install OpenOffice.org, but that would upset MS I bet

If you do go for that deal, I'd upgrade the RAM (look at Crucial's prices when you do - you'll generally find them half the price or less of Dell's RAM prices).

I definately won't go for it. For the same price you can get a much better Vostro 1500. But be wary of 4gb ram. You pay the price of £70 or maybe £40 in some laptops. The laptop will lose out on alot of the ram as it is NOT a 32 bit OS. 3gb will be worth it and you will see the difference.

The Vostro 1510 is now available to purchase online, as well as the new Vostro 1310. There are a number of different configurations and evalue codes available, some of which represent very good deals.

Check out the deals here: Latest Vostro Deals
